PETR SAIDL studoval na Konzervatoři v Pardubicích u Stanislava Juřici a na Vysoké hudební škole Franze Liszta ve Výmaru u prof. Rolanda Zimmera, prof. Jürgena Rosta a prof. Moniky Rostové. Aktivně se účastnil mistrovských kurzů (G. Crosskey, J. W. Duarte, H. Käppel, C. Cotsiolis, W. Lendle…). Je držitelem řady ocenění z národních a mezinárodních soutěží. V roce 1990 byl zařazen na prémiovou listinu Českého hudebního fondu. V r. 1993 zahájil svoji pedagogickou činnost na pardubické konzervatoři, kde od r. 2007 vede kytarové oddělení. Jeho studenti obsazují čelní příčky v národních i mezinárodních kytarových soutěžích (140 cen, 56 prvních cen). Spolupracuje s hudebními nakladatelstvími, je pravidelně zván do porot kytarových soutěží, na kytarové festivaly a semináře. V roce 2010 se stal členem „D´Addario family“. Jako sólista i člen různých komorních seskupení, nejčastěji s houslistou Bohuslavem Matouškem, violistou Milanem Řehákem, a také jako člen kytarového kvarteta „Guitar4mation“, koncertoval v mnoha evropských zemích. Řada snímků vznikla ve spolupráci s Českým rozhlasem, rozhlasovou a televizní stanicí ORF. Natočil dvě sólová CD, další CD s violistou M. Řehákem a tři CD s kytarovým kvartetem „Guitar4mation“. Je ředitelem projektu „Kytara Kutná Hora“, který mimo jiné zahrnuje festivaly „Kytarová noc“ a „Mezinárodní kytarové bienále  Kutná Hora“ nebo udělování ceny „Mladý kytarista roku“.
